Earthdance

September 20-23, 2012
The Lodge at Turtle Lake
Camilla, Georgia

Earthdance, held every year on the third weekend of September, is CST's official festival, and is where our annual membership meeting and bi-annual elections are held. Earthdance is held at The Lodge at Turtle Lake near Camilla, Georgia.

Things to Know: Due to CST policies, no nudity is allowed at Earthdance, so this is not a skyclad or clothing-optional event.

About the site: Earthdance is held at The Lodge at Turtle Lake, which is private property consisting of several mostly-flat acres, a very large lawn, a small cabin (the Lodge), and a school bus. The site has flushing toilets and outdoor showers. There is ample camping room and trees to hang hammocks from, and plenty of parking. The lake is open for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing (bring your own boats, and yes, you can eat what you catch, except for the gators!). Swimming is not advised, due to the afore-mentioned alligators. No dogs are allowed; other animals may be allowed (please ask first). No firearms or illegal substances are allowed, so please leave these at home.

Campers & RVs: There is room for a very few campers and RVs with advance notice. Please let us know ahead of time if you are bringing a camper or RV, and if you will need electricity for it (there is an extra fee of $25 for electricity; you will need an adapter to plug into the house current, and the system will not allow for high-draw things such as air conditioning). There are no water or sewage hookups for campers, and no generators are to be run near the main camping areas due to the noise.

Camper For Rent: Don't want to camp? Rent the 24-foot camper (1 bed, 2 converta-beds, sleeps 6 max) for $35/night. It has electricity, lights, air and heat, but no toilet or shower. To reserve, you must make one nights' deposit by September 1. Camper must be paid IN FULL by September 14 or reservation and deposit will be forfeited.

Earthdance has a long history; it was first started by Shadowcat at FDR State Park in Pine Mountain, GA, and was then taken over by Stormy & Sandy. They ran it for a couple of years together, and then it became Stormy's responsibility. Under her guidance, Earthdance moved to Hard Labor Creek State Park east of Atlanta, GA, and then finally to Kolomoki Mounds State Park. After her passing in 2004, her daughter Carol Lynne took over. Earthdance was last held in 2005, and after this 6-year hiatus, Carol Lynne has graciously given CST permission to revive Earthdance and hold it in Stormy's honor.
